NIAID and the CIA Had a Contract

Follow the money, part two.

Documents posted by the Daily Caller News Foundation show an interagency agreement between Fauci’s NIAID and the CIA’s Biological Technology Center, under which unclassified civilian virus research was used to "augment and complement" classified work.
On 29 August 2026, RedState reported on documents first posted by the Daily Caller News Foundation showing an interagency agreement between Dr. Anthony Fauci’s NIAID and the CIA’s Biological Technology Center, covering forensic microbiology and bioterrorism agents. Under it, the Agency funded and leveraged civilian research programs, with unclassified virus research run through NIAID used to "augment and complement" classified work.
Rutgers chemist Richard Ebright on how far back this runs: "Vice President Cheney assigned Fauci to head US biodefense research programs in 2002, including bioweapons-agents-development and bioweapons-agents-characterization research programs that approached, and arguably crossed, red lines set by the Biological Weapons Convention."
Our co-founder, quoted in the piece: "The lines between public health and biodefense have been blurred beyond recognition ever since."
This is the answer to the question we asked in July, when the ask to the Senate was to follow the money rather than relitigate the podium statements. Money moved between a public health agency and an intelligence agency, under an agreement, for two decades, with the public health side facing the cameras.
A 2003 CIA memo in the same record is titled "The Darker Bioweapons Future."
They named it themselves.
